On the A-list

Finally made it to the Hollywood legend that is Westwood Memorial Park yesterday and it was well worth the trip.

The Park is a small cemetery run by Pierce Bros. mortuary;  it’s behind a movie theater on Wilshire Boulevard –  click on the thumbnail at left for an idea of what you see if you look up.

But if you look around you, you see a tiny oasis of green  in the middle of the Wilshire corridor. (See below.)  If you look down, you see some of the most famous names ever – most people go to see Marilyn and she’s easy to find – in a sea of pale gray marble, there is one spot of pink.  That’s her.

The highlight of the day was to find that Ray Bradbury – clearly planning ahead – feels the same way about Fahrenheit 451 as I do.

I leave you to write  your own history – surely one of these names will produce a madeleine effect for you.  The last photo in the gallery is of nobody of importance except to those who loved her, and that is its charm. You can see the full A-list here.
