Here’s the  summer schedule – one post a week between now and Labor Day, unless inspiration strikes.

In the meantime, celebrate Jacques Cousteau (1910-1997) today – the clip is narrated by his grandson Philippe – and Richard Strauss (1864-1949), whose overture to ‘Don Juan’ is energetically conducted by Georg Solti:

  2. Jacques Cousteau inspired so many of us who grew up in the 1960’s. It was a wonder to us to see his “Silent World” the first significant film to use underwater cinematography. My husband and I met in a scuba diving course he was teaching, and we spent part of our honeymoon on the reefs of the Florida Keys!

  3. Lovely little bit of Solti and it was probably only rehearsal. He looks so young. Probably pre-Chicago where he lead the Symphony for quite a few years.
